Venture Arts is proud to be supporting schools and education settings on their Artsmark journey, inspiring children and young people to create, experience, and participate in great arts and culture.
We offer education settings who are working towards an Artsmark Award the following opportunities:
Primary schools (KS1&2) | SEND schools (all ages)
Exciting, engaging projects over 10 weeks in an art form which your school might not normally be able to offer, such as textiles, ceramics, animation, photography, film or 3D multimedia. We plan the project with you in advance, taking into account your school’s Artsmark aims and school improvement priorities.
In workshops led by a professional artist tutor, your pupils learn and refine new artistic processes over the weeks.
They use their new skills, along with their own interests and imaginations, to create something beautiful, unique and personal to them. They get to know our learning disabled ‘artistic mentors’, who demonstrate techniques and offer individual support to pupils on their projects.
The projects give young people new creative experiences, whilst also teaching them about learning disability. This helps break down stereotypes and change attitudes so that learning disabled people are more likely to be treated fairly and with respect in our society.
For pupils who have learning disabilities themselves, it can be aspirational to see people like themselves in positions of leadership and employment (we pay our artistic mentors for their work).
Pupils will also get to see their work exhibited in a high profile public space – such as The Lowry or Manchester Central Library – as part of our annual Young People’s Exhibition. You can read more about our Schools Projects here.
Art & design KS1-4
Citizenship KS2 | ‘Developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people; recognising and challenge stereotypes’
SMSC | ‘encouraging respect for other people’
Project themes can link to other areas of the curriculum as desired.
We can offer your school projects of one half-day up to a full term, depending on your requirements, in all of the art forms described above.
Staff who attend the projects often learn new skills, techniques and best practice in diversity from our professional tutors and artist mentors, that can be valuable in the future. This way of working is different, innovative and creative. Please contact us if you would like to chat about how we can help your teachers with CPD.
