Jackie Haynes
Jackie participated in ‘Conversations III: Narratives’ and shared her fancy-dress costume collection which developed over 6 months into filmed and photographed group scenarios initiated by Venture Arts artist, Deborah Makinde.
Jackie is an artist and art practice-based researcher with a textiles background whose artwork often involves costume, objects, performance, installation, collage and text-based works. Collaborating with artist Heather Ross as Artist A & Artist B, they recently made and exhibited a new body of work in the British Textiles Biennial called ‘The Surplus Badge’. Both Heather and Jackie recently completed PhDs on the subject of the German Dada artist, Kurt Schwitters. They will tour their new artwork and film, adding new works to their broader project, ‘Statement of Intent’.
Since Artist A & Artist B’s ‘Women in Print’ residency, Jackie has become a member of Artlab at UCLan and is currently experimenting with screen printing onto left-over materials. She is excited to be part of a team working with Manchester Art Gallery, Platt Hall’s Mary Greg collection, Sure Start and MMU on a 3-year project called ‘Things of the Least – Lively Exhibition-Making Through the Material Encounters of Under-3s’.
Her involvement with Venture Arts’ Narratives residency in 2023 has led to an ongoing project making her 800-piece costume collection available for use by artists and workshop groups.
