Artists

Millie Loveday Inglis

Millie participated in 'Conversations Series III: Narratives' a 6 month residency working in collaboration with Venture Arts artists.

Millie Loveday Inglis’ paintings, assemblage and sculpture are means of preservation. Drawing on the aesthetics of symbolism and the macabre, alongside circuses, theatres and personal ritual, Inglis works symbolically with the strangeness, absurdity, and tenderness of life and death. The artist suggests how memories are contained and transmuted within objects and how this transforms them into transitional and transformational heirlooms. Shrines and relics are evoked and with them a kind of magic that somehow keeps the dead alive in the world and allows us to reckon with impermanence and experience the joys and pains of a life lived.
