EUROPEAN OUTSIDER ART ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE 2018 | The Artist's Voice
Were really delighted to be presenting at the European Outsider Art Association Conference 2018, hosted by our friends Outside In at Pallant House Gallery in May. Outside In will host the European Outsider Art Conference 2018. The conference, taking place 4-6 May at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, will include presentations by artists, practitioners and academics. The programme will also include workshops, tours and the European Outsider Art Association’s (EOA) General Assembly. The purpose of the conference is to discuss important questions in the field of Outsider Art, to exchange ideas and build networks between professionals working in the field. Attendees will include artists, curators and collectors along with representatives from museums, galleries, collections, art projects and studio groups. From 2015-16 Venture Arts led a new project in partnership with Castlefield Gallery (Manchester) and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (Gateshead) entitled OutsiderXchanges. Over seven months, learning disabled artists and emerging artists from Manchester and Newcastle collaborated in a studio to Room 11 Studio make new work. Taking parity of ideas and aesthetic approaches as a starting point, the resulting works blurred the line between art and life, inviting the viewer to challenge their own conceptions of art and what might be considered ‘outsider’ art. SCRRIPTT was one of the resulting pieces to emerge from the project and is a collaboration between artists Barry Anthony Finan and Rosanne Robertson.
