Light Night Wigan

Venture Arts artist, Florence, is part of Light Night Wigan 2025, a spectacular free festival of light illuminating Mesnes Park and the Wigan borough from 20–22 November.

Her collaborative installation, Strands, is a stunning new light and sound work inspired by Florence’s stitched family houses. The project has been co-created with Things That Go On Things, Vicky Clarke, Jonny Godsmark, and Lazerian.

Exploring ideas of home, Florence worked with sound artist Vicky Clarke to record loom sounds and experiment with machine learning. She also co-led creative workshops at Wigan Youth Zone and Oldham CRIB, where families and young people designed and created their own textile houses, before making them in to 3D houses and learning how to illuminate them. The result is a celebration of collaboration and creativity.
