Artists
Julia Keenan
Julia Keenan creates loose, playful drawings and prints exploring sound, vision, communication and the sensory experience of hearing loss.
Julia Keenan’s drawings and prints are loose and playful, often made quickly to capture a feeling. The line and tone of the drawings are complemented by the printmaking techniques Julia uses, including drypoint, etching, aquatint and collagraph.
Julia likes to take the viewer on a sensory journey, encouraging them to look a little closer and consider what is happening. Their experience of hearing loss has made sound, noise and vision an important playground for creativity.
During an MA in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University, Julia developed these ideas further through installation work exploring sound, vision and the ways we communicate with one another.
