Exhibition
once upon a time in an oxford road station
Venture Arts artist Armaghan Butt will present new work in once upon a time in an oxford road station at The Modernist this August.
Inspired by Manchester’s modernist architecture and the rhythms of everyday life, Armaghan combines text, digital illustration, printmaking and animation to create layered works that explore memory, observation and stream of consciousness.
The exhibition marks another exciting milestone in Armaghan’s practice. Earlier in 2026, Manchester-based technology company Escode commissioned him to create a series of bespoke artworks for its Spinningfields headquarters. Selected through a staff vote, the works are now permanently displayed in the company’s main entrance, celebrating Manchester’s architectural identity and the creativity of learning disabled and neurodivergent artists.
once upon a time in an oxford road station opens with a preview on Thursday 6 August (from 6–8pm) and continues until Saturday 29 August at The Modernist.
