Amy Ellison’s ‘Cocktails’ has been purchased by the Grundy for their main collection and is to be exhibited alongside the work of Tracey Emin and Joseph Kosuth this autumn.
Grundy Art Gallery in Blackpool has announced the launch of its autumn 2020 exhibition ‘The Lights’. Taking its title from how the Blackpool Illuminations are referred to locally, this exhibition will celebrate the reopening of the gallery on 23rd September and coincide with the town’s annual season of light. The exhibition will feature Amy Ellison’s popular ‘Cocktails’ piece, which includes three drawings produced on an iPad and then displayed on light boxes.
Over the last five years, Grundy Art Gallery has been developing a special interest in artists that use light as a material within their work. In addition to an annual autumn light themed exhibition, Grundy has also been adding light art works to its main collection and we’re thrilled to announce that ‘Cocktails’ has been purchased by the gallery.
‘The Lights’ is an opportunity for visitors to see all of Grundy’s light art works together for the first time and will include world renowned contemporary artist Tracey Emin; one of the originators of 1960’s Conceptual art, Joseph Kosuth and five new works that have been brought into their collection this year, including Venture Arts’ very own Amy Ellison.

‘The Lights’ opens on 23rd September and will run until 19th December 2020.
