Spark #49: In There – Low Impact Photography
Join Out Here exhibitors Steve Sutton and Emelia Hewitt for a special exhibition tour followed by a practical photography workshop at the Venture Arts studio.
The event begins at Castlefield Gallery, where Steve Sutton will introduce Out Here, an exhibition bringing together artists whose work explores our relationship with the natural world through a range of media, including photography, sculpture, drawing and installation. Participants will then take a short walk to the Venture Arts studios in Hulme.
At the studio, Emelia Hewitt will lead a hands-on workshop exploring low-impact cameraless photographic techniques, including anthotypes and lumen prints. Using light-sensitive materials and natural processes, participants will create their own unique prints while learning about sustainable approaches to image-making. All materials are provided and no previous experience is required.
🎟 Free, places must be booked in advance. BOOK YOUR PLACE HERE.
Emelia Hewitt’s practice combines photography, textiles and illustration, using intricate digital and analogue techniques to manipulate images, narratives and histories. Her work explores photography’s relationship with everyday life, as well as its early connections with science and the categorisation of the natural world.
